We are delighted to introduce Domaine Schoenheitz to Australia. The winery is located in the village of Wihr-au-Val in the Haut-Rhin region of Alsace, near Munster, where the Alsatian hills meet the Vosges Mountains.
This family operated estate is the only independent producer in the village. Schoenheitz’s grapes grow on extremely steep hillsides. The grapes benefit from the warm southern sun and the cool evenings.
Dominique and Henri have continued the reconstruction of the vineyards begun by Henri Schoenheitz Sr in the 1970’s following the ravages of war. The Schoenheitz family’s hard work and passion for winemaking have successfully restored the fine reputation of the Wihr-au-Val appellation.
The soils are mostly granite, and the wines are pure and precise. The wines are a true expression of Alsace and are a delight to drink.
