Domaine Jessiaume Tasting Notes
2018 Bourgogne Pinot Noir
This wine is made from Pinot Noir grapes grown 100% organically in
Burgundy. The grapes were harvested on 7th September, 2019,
destemmed and then fermented for three weeks before being matured in
oak barrels before bottling in December, 2019. No new oak was used
in the process and the wine was not fined or filtered.
It is deep, brick red in colour. The aroma shows black fruits and a
hint of spice. On the palate, its acidity is well balanced by the
savoury fruit and gentle tannins. It has significant length and
excellent mouth feel – a most satisfactory wine to taste.
The wine will improve with short to
medium term cellaring and can be enjoyed now through to 2025.
This is an excellent example of an
entry level Bourgogne Pinot noir.
2018 Bourgogne Chardonnay
This wine is made from Chardonnay grapes grown 100% organically
in Burgundy, just south of Santenay. The grapes were harvested on
6th September 2018 and the wine was bottled on the 9th December
2019.
The wine was aged on lees for 12 months in oak barrels—no new
oak was used in this process.
This is a “New Worlds” wine in character. It has sub tropical
notes showing citrus elements and some minerality. It has a rich
palate and balance is a hallmark of the wine.
Its cleanliness and fruit flavour make this a delight to drink
at a very reasonable price.
2018 Corton-Charlemagne
This wine is made for Chardonnay grapes harvested on the 30th
August, 2018 from the Grand Cru vineyard of Corton-Charlemagne in
Burgundy.
After pressing, the grape the juice was transferred to stainless
tanks and then to oak barrels for the fermentation. The wine was
aged on lees for 14 months (30% new oak) before bottling on the
9th December 2019.
The wine shows a clear and sparkling light gold colour.
The aroma has beautiful notes of white fruit with a hint of
vanilla. A wonderful freshness and minerality characterize the
bouquet.
On the palate, the wine is delicious, salty with a refreshing
acidity. The finish is smooth, long with pine tree notes.
A beautifully balanced wine to be enjoyed now but it will
improve in the cellar for up to 10 years.
2018 Santenay 1er Cru "Les Gravières"
The Les
Gravières
Premier Cru climat lies in the heart of the Santenay appellation in
the sector nearest to Chassagne-Montrachet. Domaine Jessiaume is the
owner of the largest plot in this important climat.
The grapes were harvested on the 2nd September 2018 and then
fermented in oak barrels (20% new oak) for 15 months before bottling
on the 10th February 2020.This is a deeply coloured wine with all of
the attributes of the 2018 vintage.
There is a perfume of violets with
some intense fresh raspberry characters, a little spice and the
Santenay earthiness.
The entry is both rich and concentrated with powerful fresh berry
fruits, a supple middle palate and a delightful soft texture. The
flavours seem to go for ages. This wine is immediately attractive
with its palate weight, balance, structure and elegance.
This will evolve superbly over the medium to long term. Enjoy
through to 2030!

2018 Volnay 1er Cru "Les Brouillards"
The Premier Cru climat "Brouillards" is located just to the east
of the village of Volnay and borders on Pommard. The name
originally comes from "Breuillat" meaning the presence of young
wood.
The wine was fermented with 30% whole bunch. . It was then
fermented then put in oak barrels (25% new oak) for 15
months. No filtration or fining was performed.
The grapes were harvested on 4 September 2018 and the wine was
bottled on 10 February 2020.
The aroma is complex with black fruits and floral notes. On the
palate, it is a blend of elegance and power that reveals a
concentrated wine. The finish is long and satisfying.

This is a delight to drink now but can be cellared for up to 15
years.
2017 Volnay 1er Cru "Les Brouillards"
The Premier Cru climat "Brouillards" is located just to the east of
the village of Volnay and borders on Pommard. The name originally
comes from "Breuillat" meaning the presence of young wood.
This wine has been fermented with a small percentage being whole
bunch. The fermentation is in oak barrels, 25% new oak.
This is an example of an outstanding Premier Cru Volnay.
It has a deep red/ruby colour. The
aroma shows notes of dark cherries and sage. The palate is plush and
juicy but savoury (think Peking duck) with dark red fruits. It has a
bright acidity and well formed tannins at the finish. It great
length and power together with balance and elegance.
This is a wine to enjoy now and for
the next ten years up to 2030.
A real treat!
2017 Beaune 1er Cru "Les Cent Vignes"
The colour is medium red-brick with a hint of purple. It shows
smoky and slightly oaky notes on the nose with red fruits.
On the palate, it has fine acidity and some sweet fruit
characters - blackberry, blueberry. It is rich and intense
but fine tannins balance the wine.
This is a wine of length and intensity that needs time in the
bottle. It will age well for up to 15 years.
Enjoy now or drink from 2025 onwards.

2016 Beaune 1er Cru "Les Cent Vignes"
2015 Volnay
The colour is a rich ruby showing purple on
the rim. The nose is highly perfumed with some cherry overtones,
fresh raspberry, spices and a little savoury earthiness. Most
attractive. The palate is rich with upfront berry flavours, plenty
of spice typical of Volnay wine. It shows a real purity of fruit.
The flavours are persistent and the tannins are very fine and quite
supple.
This is an excellent wine with a level of refinement and elegance
generally associated with Premier Crus
2014 Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru "Les Ecussaux"
This wine is deeply
coloured and vibrant - it looks superb in the glass. A most fragrant
and alluring nose with ‘sweet’ ripe berry fruits, plum, a hint of
liquorice plus plenty of earth/undergrowth and a suggestion of
stalkiness make this a very classy bouquet.It has a silky palate
with a ripe, ‘sweet’ fruit flavour that persist for ages.
This is a very fine example of both the terroir of this important
appellation in Beaune together with the prowess of the maker.
